Detox for conception

Have you started an MLD detox in preparation for conception? Here are some tips on how you can help your liver and uterus cleanse themselves. Make this a time of building nourishment and health for your body.

Remove from the kitchen:

  • Alcohol
  • Cigarettes
  • Non-organic meats and dairy
  • Processed foods
  • Nutra-sweet & Aspartame
  • White processed grains
  • White sugar
  • Fried foods
  • Processed foods
  • Soy foods.

Choose to eat:

  • All fruit and vegetables organic (if not possible, check out the most contaminated list for guidance)
  • Low amounts of dairy and only organic
  • Deep water fish
  • All red meats (if any) grass fed and organic
  • All chicken free range/organic
  • All grains in whole, natural form
  • Carbohydrates in equal amounts with protein
  • Something high in enzymes with every meal
  • No soy unless fermented, miso, tempeh
  • No refined sugars or fruit juices (unless freshly juiced)

Some general advice:

  1. Eat fiber: it helps to cleanse excess estrogen from the body. Broccoli is the best for this, but any dark leafy greens will do.
  2. No dairy unless organic. Other than organic contains added hormones and antibiotics which can contribute to increase estrogen levels in the body. Also keep dairy to a minimum because of its congesting nature.
  3. Drink plenty of fresh, purified water.
  4. Be present while you eat, chew each bite as if it were your first bite of food ever. Eat sitting down, in a quiet environment.
  5. Practise Self Fertility Massage, it helps the body to clear itself of old contents and bring fresh blood to the uterus and ovaries. Castor oil packs enhance circulation and promote healing of tissues and organs.
  6. Practise Yoga. It has an effect on the endocrine system, balances hormones, helps with stress and improves overall health.
  7. Exfoliate. It moves lymph, increases circulation, takes of old dead skin and aids the liver in detoxifying. Use exfoliation gloves or simple salt scrub, in circular motions towards the heart. Follow with shower or detox bath.
  8. Have body work, complementary therapies: acupuncture, massage, reflexology, shiatsu. Drink plenty of water after your treatments.
  9. Sleep: to let your body repair and restore itself. Try and regulate your sleep patterns.
  10. Meditate: focus on what you want to come into your life (not what you don’t want).
